No birds, just bees

Here's another installment of what should be titled "The Most Infrequently Updated Blog On The Internet" (or some such).

I'm up in Oregon visiting my parents in what was pretty much a last minute trip. I didn't even confirm to my parents that I'd be coming up here until Saturday night at Warren's party. The drive up was about as uneventful as you would expect for a six hour solo trip. I did get stuck on I5 when traffic compressed to one lane for a roadside fire. One guard rail post was in flames but the remaining firemen didn't seem too concerned.

On many of my other trips up here, I've seen red tailed hawks sitting on the fences off I5 15 feet off the road and thought they'd make a good picture. This time, I had my camera in the front seat with the telephoto and monopod ready. Unfortunately, there weren't any subjects.

It did get me thinking that my dad would probably have an extra tripod lying around (I'm not sure how that train of thought worked either) and here are the results of mating my new Slik U8000 with Chookie's 100mm Macro 2.8L.

update: updating my gallery broke my bee pictures making the title of this post dumb... I'll try and bring the images back.
