Beer Train 2009 Details - Saturday, April 18th

Beer Train 9: Stimulus Plan

UPDATE: REGISTRATION CLOSED!

Registration has closed but if you're still interested, you may sign up and we'll notify you if space becomes available. If you are on the waiting list, please do NOT pay us now.

Also, please do NOT plan on (or allow friends to) skipping the registration process to just tag along. A lot of planning and leg work goes into making this event happen and if you would like to see Beer Train happen again, please register along with everyone else.

President Obama recently passed the $787 billion stimulus plan, an ambitious package of federal spending and tax cuts designed to revive the economy and save millions of jobs. Obama said: "We will need to do everything in the short term to get our economy moving again". The best use of our money right now is on liquid assets, aka beer. We are going to invest in 5 bars along the peninsula and hope that our injection of cash will turn this country around. While in Pennsylvania, Obama further went on to state "I’m always good for a beer. [I like] trying a Pennsylvania beer, that’s what I’m talking about.” We should follow in his footsteps by sampling various California Ales along our trek.

The plan:
When: Saturday April 18 at 1:00PM - 11:30PM
Where: From the Sunnyvale Caltrain stop to the Belmont Caltrain stop
Why: Beer

Shirts are being printed and the schedule is almost final... expect more details in a few days.

Mini FAQ

  • What is Beer Train anyway? A pub crawl using Caltrain to cart us around
  • How much does it cost? $35
  • What do I get for my money? A lovely commemorative Hanes Beefy T-Shirt with the Beer Train logo, your Caltrain day pass, sober conductors to make sure you don't get left behind, and a fabric pen to write on everyone else. We aren't making any money on this, trust me.
  • Are you guys making bank on this operation? No. Any extra funds we have go to the bars as tip for putting up with 80 drunk people.
  • How long can I procrastinate about whether I want to go or not? We are capping Beer Train at 80 people. It is first come, first serve. You have until we are full.
  • Can I invite my friends? Yes, feel free to invite them (taking into account the time constraints of the previous question).
  • Where can I check out photos from past Beer Trains? Bharat has photos up here
  • Can I skip signing up and just tag along for a couple bars? No. We coordinate with Caltrain, the bars, and our conductors and can't keep track of extra bodies. Please don't mar the event for us, for you, or your friends.
  • What are you doing with my information? We promise not to sell your email address or do any other evil things with it. It's just so we can get the schedule to you when it's finalized.
  • Who can I contact with more questions? Email Warren (warren.schechter at gmail dot com), Chris (cdoyle at gmail dot com), or Shaun (coug_georgia at yahoo dot com)

We are capping Beer Train at the first 80 payments. Don't be that guy who signs up early and slacks off on payment and doesn't get to go.
